Family Fun Saturday | Watercolors with Ruey Syrop

  • Hayward Area Historical Society (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Families can attend a special story time focusing on Asian American and Pacific Islanders. Following story time, children can participate in age-appropriate crafts and activities from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. This month, learn about Hayward artist Hisako Hibi, who was incarcerated at Tanforan and Topaz during World War II. Her art during that period focused on documenting the landscapes around her and creating art from found objects. Children will have the opportunity to create their own versions of Hibi’s art.

In addition to this drop-in program, local artist Ruey Syrop will be teaching a children’s watercolor class from 12:30-2:30 pm. This program is free to attend, but registration is encouraged for this activity as space is limited.
