Drop-in during Museum hours on the third Saturday for guided crafts and fun for kids of all ages. See below for our schedule of activities in our cozy classroom. No reservations are required and crafts are free. See our local history and art exhibitions, experience guided and free-play art activities, and explore our toy and book nook.
February 21: Celebrating African American Music and Russell City Blues | This year is the 150th anniversary of the founding of Hayward and the 100th anniversary of Black History Month. An important part of Hayward’s history is Russell City. Come in and learn about the West Coast Blues clubs that made Russell City famous, and make some instruments of your own.
March 21: Hayward’s 150th Birthday! | We are celebrating the 150th anniversary of the founding of Hayward! Visit our history gallery to learn about how historical artifacts can tell the history of our city, and then come up with some items of your own that might tell YOUR history in the future. While you are here, learn about why carnations are significant to the city’s history and what role canning fruits and vegetables played.
April 18: Earth Day: Our Power, Our Planet | Earth Day is on April 22nd; this year’s theme is Our Power, Our Planet. Learn about the history of Earth Day and how you can use YOUR power to make a difference. We’ll be making seed bombs to take home so you can spread some wildflower joy.
