Facility Rentals

Make your event or meeting a historic one at the Center for History and Culture in downtown Hayward. The Center for History and Culture has several spaces available for rental for special events including receptions, business meetings, cocktail parties, anniversary dinners, baby showers, or other celebrations.


Community Gallery

Capacity: 100 seated, 150 standing, 2,200 square feet

The Center’s main gallery and largest event space, adjacent to the café, provides a spacious, carpeted environment with large windows, equipped with a state-of-the art digital projector with large projection screen at the rear of the Gallery, and a professional sound system.

Rates Per Hour: Regular $250 / Member or Nonprofit rate $200


Capacity: 65 seated, 80 standing, 1,500 square feet

The Cannery Cafe, the Center’s central, light-filled space with access to the Foothill Blvd entrance and lobby entrance is suitable for an anniversary celebration, baby shower, or special event. This space features a sound system with handheld or lapel microphones.

Rates Per Hour: Regular $200 / Member or Nonprofit rate $150


Second Floor Upper Lobby

Capacity: 30 seated, 50 standing, 800 square feet

The Second Floor Upper Lobby area with windows and natural light is perfect for a small to medium-size business meeting or professional seminar, equipped with a moveable projection screen or whiteboard.

Rates Per Hour: Regular $100 / Member or Nonprofit rate $75


Community Gallery and/or Cafe: Monday and Tuesday 9:00 am – 10:00 pm, Wednesday through Sunday, 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Other Galleries and locations: Wednesday to Friday, 9:00 am – 10:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 am – 10:00 pm.

Note: rental includes ½ hour setup and ½ hour cleanup at no charge.


A Security Deposit ranging from $ 75 – $250 (equal to one hour of hourly rental rate) is due upon signing the rental agreement. The Security Deposit will be held and returned unless damage occurs or the event goes beyond the pre-agreed time.

Certificate of LIABILITY

The User must provide the Museum with a Certificate of Liability Insurance in the amount of $1,000,000 naming the Hayward Area Historical Society and the City of Hayward as holder. One day Certificate of Liability Insurance can be obtained through The Event Helper at www.theeventhelper.com.


Outside food and beverages are not allowed. Catering, including serving of liquor, is provided by Blue Heron Catering Inc. Please see website www.blueheroncatering.com or contact Debbie Pfisterer at (510) 533-0781 or info@blueheroncatering.com to arrange catering.


A separate non-refundable cleaning fee of $50 is required when using Blue Heron Catering.

HAHS reserves the right to refuse facility rental to any individual or organization.
