Days of the Dead 2010: Folk Art for the Third Millennium
From Saturday, October 9th, 2010 until Sunday, November 14th, 2010
HAHS is teaming up again with the East Bay Art Collaborative to produce another Days of the Dead celebration in the Hayward area. Days of the Dead: Folk Art for the Third Millenium, curated by Hayward artist Fernando Hernandez, will open October 9 in the historic Meek Mansion and run through November 14. Last year's exhibition drew over a thousand people.
PUBLIC HOURS:
- Thursdays-Fridays, 3-7pm
- Saturdays-Sundays, 12-5pm
EXHIBIT ADMISSION:
- $6 adults
- $4 HAHS members/students/seniors over 65
- Children under 5 free

Free Community Day Celebration, Saturday, October 16, 11am-6pm
Come celebrate at Meek Park! Days of the Dead ceremony led by Yolanda Aranda with Xaguia Aztec dancers, folklore music and dancing by Mariachi Juvenil de Hayward and Grupo Folklorico Tlapalli, and musical performances by Blanca, Jesus Cisneros, Viviane DeLeon Bias and Solo Amigos, and Chabot College Theatre performs an original Days of the Dead play. Plus, food, arts and crafts vendors, and activities for kids. Presented in partnership with Hayward Area Recreation and Park District.
You can participate! Bring canned food for the community altar. All the food will be donated to a local food bank.
