Educators

The Hayward Area Historical Society (HAHS) makes resources available to help increase knowledge about our local history. While most of the HAHS school audience is 3rd and 4th graders and their teachers, we offer education kits and tours programs for K-12 as well as for adult groups, including developmentally disabled people. Home schools, scouts, preschools and other groups are welcome!
Curiosity Clubhouse School Tours
Elementary school students enjoy hands-on activities in after a school tour in the Curiosity Clubhouse. Education Assistant, Adriana Abrams, engages students on a school tour.
Discovery Kits / Artifact Trunks Walking Tours
HAHS has standards-based Discovery Kits for loan with curriculum, touchable artifacts, try-on costumes and primary sources on the Ohlone, Alta California, Early Settlers of CA and Immigration (seen in photo). Participants on a Walking Tour of downtown Hayward enjoy seeing how the Hayward fault has split a wall through the "strike/slip" tectonic action. HAHS also has self-guided and guided Earthquake Tours available.
