Bring history into your classroom!
Discovery kits are a fun and interactive way to bring local history to life in your classroom. All kits are fully stocked with lesson plans, hands-on objects, books, DVDs and more. We designed the kits with 3rd and 4th grade History/Social Studies content standards in mind, but they are ideal for all elementary-age children. Other standards include Language Arts, Visual Arts, Science, and Environmental Education.
How To Reserve A Discovery Kit
Reservations for Discovery Kits must be made at least two weeks in advance by phone or by using the form (right). Please call the Education Department at (510) 581-0223 x. 163 for more information.
The rental fee for a Discovery Kit is $25 per week. There is a $5.00 per day fee for late pick-up and drop-off. Each kit contains plenty of activities for an entire week. We encourage multiple teachers at a site to rent a kit together. Kits are picked up by the teacher on Fridays (before 5:00pm) and dropped off the following Friday (before 5:00pm). Pick up and drop off is at the HAHS Center for History and Culture at 22380 Foothill Boulevard, Hayward. Advance payment is appreciated.
