Educational Resources

Exciting times are ahead of us at the Hayward Area Historical Society! We are now the proud owners of a building on Foothill Blvd and will be working hard during the next year to develop brand-new local history exhibits for the community! In the meantime, we still offer various opportunities to learn about the history of the Hayward area. Make history come alive by renting a Discovery Kit, visiting the 1886 McConaghy House, or booking a walking tour of downtown Hayward. Our goal is to make the past a fun part of everyday life!
We offer:
- Guided tours McConaghy House and Archie’s Playroom, the San Lorenzo Pioneer Cemetery, downtown Hayward walking tour
- Discovery Kits for classroom use
- Online resources and lesson plans
- Crossroads — A Community Heritage Website: www.historycrossroads.org. The Crossroads project features timelines, stories, and pathways through which you can learn about the communities of Castro Valley, Hayward, and San Lorenzo.
