Education Kits

Filled with replica artifacts, maps, images, clothing, games, videos, music, background information, suggested activities, and other resources, the Education Kits offer an effective way to bring history to life for your group. We designed the kits with 3rd and 4th grade History/Social Studies content standards in mind, but they are ideal for all elementary-age children. Other standards include Language Arts, Visual Arts, Science, and Environmental Education.
  • Ohlone Discovery Kit

Who were the first people to live in this area, and what was life like for them?
  • Alta California Kit

What was California like when it was part of Spain and Mexico? Local focus: Mission San Jose and East Bay ranchos.
  • Early Settlers Kit

How did the communities of Castro Valley, Hayward, and San Lorenzo get started?
  • Immigration Kit

Who has come to California and the Hayward area over time and why?

Rental fee for an education kit is $10 per week. Kits can be picked up at the museum in downtown Hayward on Saturday and dropped off the following Friday (museum hours are 11 am-4 pm Tuesday through Saturday). Advance payment is required.
