You can customize your group's visit by choosing from a combination of these program options.

Downtown Museum:

Local History Exhibit, 45 minutes
Take a journey through the permanent exhibit, exploring hands-on artifacts, period clothing, and activities from the past.

Curiosity Clubhouse, Flexible
This fun room is designed just for children. The Clubhouse is full of costumes, history cubbies, interactive exhibits, art activities, and storybooks. More about the Curiosity Clubhouse

Temporary Exhibitions, 45 minutes
Changing exhibitions offer in-depth examinations of special topics. More about current and upcoming exhibits.

Museum tour fee is $20.00 per class of 20 students (example: 18 students would be $20, 35 students would be 2 classes or $40); there is no admission fee for educator and chaperones.

Adult group tours are $20 per group of up to 10 people, each additional person is $1. Advance booking and payment is required.

McConaghy House, 90 minutes

A visit to this 19th century farmhouse opens a window into the past. Guided tours illustrate life in the growing communities of the Hayward area. Themes of work, social and leisure life, and technology are addressed using historic images, clothing, touchable artifacts, and period games.

Pre-visit education guide

McConaghy House school tour fee is $20.00 per class of up to 20 students and teacher, and $3.00 per chaperone. Admission is $.50 for each additional student. During the month of December, add $1 for each chaperone.

Adult group tours are $4 per adult and $3 per senior (over the age of 65). Advance booking and payment is required.

Walking Tour of Downtown Hayward, 45 minutes

Get a little exercise on a guided stroll through downtown and learn about places of historical and cultural significance. The fee for a guided Walking Tour of Downtown Hayward is $20 per group. Advance booking payment is required.

Earthquake Walking Tour of Downtown Hayward, 45 minutes

Self Guided: Fee is $10 and includes 3 copies of the HAHS Earthquake Walking Tour Brochure to keep. Brochure in Spanish available soon.

Guided: Fee is $20 per group of 20 and includes 3 copies of the HAHS Earthquake Walking Tour Brochure to keep. Tour in Spanish available.

Outreach Programs

Local History Presentation
An educator will present a 45 minute power-point of the Hayward Area to your group of adults, seniors, high school students or community club. Fee: $40. Advanced payment required. Please schedule 2 months in advance.

Castro Valley History Presentation
Long-time HAHS member, volunteer and resident Lucille Lorge will present a 45 minute slide show on Castro Valley history for school-age children or adults. Fee: $20 schools; $40 adult-groups. Advanced payment required. Please schedule 1 month in advance.
