Alameda County Courthouse

The remains of the Alameda County Courthouse taken in the days following the earthquake. A partial section of the ornate columns that had decorated the building’s façade is just visible on the right. One of the columns killed J.W. Josselyn, the Deputy County Clerk. The courthouse was located in San Leandro, which was the county seat at that time.

Flour Mill

The Morse & Heslep Flourmill located near Edmonson’s warehouse. Luckily, no coal had been delivered that morning to run the machinery so when the building collapsed no employees were injured.
