The McConaghy House was built in 1886 and lived in by the McConaghy family. The collection in the house reflects the family and the eras in which they were most active in the community. Objects in the house date from the Victorian era through the late 1920's. They represent not only an era in time, but also a way of life. A handful of objects in the collection once belonged to the McConaghy family and, through generous donations, have been returned to their former home. The majority of the objects in the collection did not originally belong to the family, but are wonderful examples of the type of items they may have owned. Be sure to visit our Collection Highlights section to see some of the things that will be displayed in the house. Also visit our Wish List to see what objects we are looking for to expand the collection. To see what's currently being worked on in this collection go to Current Projects. If you are interested in donating something to the Hayward Area Historical Society for potential use at the McConaghy House, please contact Heather Farquhar at 510-581-0223 or Heather@Haywardareahistory.org. You may also visit our Donation policy for further details on how to donate an object..
